2020, Bonnet-Cotton, Brouilly “Bonnège”: This is the last vintage produced from the single vineyard “Bonnège,” which the Cotton family used to lease for two generations. This is a vineyard parcel with pink granite soil, which produced a very elegant expression of Gamay, with notes of violet and cherries and a juicy yet fresh palate despite the warm vintage. The grapes are vinified in the same method as the “Les Mines,” so the difference in terroir and vintage is especially apparent.
2021, Bonnet-Cotton, Cote de Brouilly: 100% Gamay from Cote de Brouilly, harvested manually. The grapes undergo a carbonic maceration in whole bunches, spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts. The wine ages in century-old founders originally built for holding beer, which were repurposed in the 1950s and 1960s. This vintage was much cooler than 2022, and produced fresh wines with a lot of vivacity due to the higher acidity.
