In the south-western part of Sicily, near the town of Partanna in the Belice Valley, lies Azienda Agricola Gaudioso – a family-run farm where vineyards, olive groves, and livestock have been part of everyday life for generations. Today, siblings Antonio and Rosa Gaudioso continue the family tradition after deciding in 2017 to convert the estate to organic and biodynamic farming, with a clear focus on natural wine and living soils.

The family cultivates vineyards alongside olive trees and keeps sheep, which play an important role in the estate’s natural ecosystem. Their philosophy is based on working in harmony with nature, replacing synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides with green manure, compost, and biodynamic preparations. The goal is not simply to grow grapes, but to create a healthy ecosystem where the soil becomes richer and more vibrant each year.

The vineyards are situated at around 250 metres above sea level on clay and sandy soils, where both native and international grape varieties, including Catarratto, Zibibbo, Nero d’Avola, Syrah, Chardonnay, and Pinot Grigio, are cultivated. In the cellar, Antonio and Rosa follow a low-intervention approach with spontaneous fermentation, minimal handling, and very limited sulfur use. The wines are given time to develop naturally, with intervention only when necessary to preserve balance and the pure expression of the fruit.

The style of Azienda Agricola Gaudioso is defined by freshness, energy, and drinkability. Whether producing classic Sicilian white wines, orange wines, or reds, the ambition remains the same: to let the grapes, the vintage, and the landscape speak with as little intervention as possible. Gaudioso is part of a new generation of Sicilian producers, combining biodynamic farming, natural winemaking, and the family’s long agricultural heritage to create wines with authenticity and a true sense of place.
