2023, Domaine des Entrefaux, Domaine des Entrefaux
Region: Rhône (Crozes-Hermitage)
Grapes: Syrah
Winemaker: Charles Tardy (soon to be succeeded by his daughters Gaëlle and Louise Tardy)
Domaine des Entrefaux is a five-generation family estate in Crozes-Hermitage, where the next generation is now getting ready to take over in the form of sisters Gaëlle and Louise Tardy. The family farms around 27 hectares of Syrah, Marsanne and Roussanne on stony, clay-rich and limestone soils in the northern Rhône, working in a classic style. The wine is elegant and full-bodied with a lovely spicy character. It is a more traditional style, with a little more depth. We recommend opening it about an hour before serving. We prefer it slightly chilled, at around 16°C.
2024, Joseph, Alexandre et Olivier Mavit
Region: Languedoc (Corbières)
Grapes: Grenache
Winemaker: Olivier Mavit
Olivier works with vineyards that have been in the family for around 150 years, and his philosophy is built around respect for the soil, nature and the local landscape. The vineyards are planted on clay, limestone and black marl, ranging from flatter sites to higher-altitude parcels surrounded by garrigue, thyme, rosemary and pine trees. The Mediterranean, cool sea breezes and salt in the air all help bring freshness and lightness to the wines. He grows classic southern French varieties such as Carignan, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah and Cinsault, and has gradually converted the entire estate to organic and biodynamic farming. This wine is on the lighter, juicier side and can be enjoyed slightly chilled, either on its own or with lighter dishes in the autumn sun.
2024, Les Gueux Blanc, Domaine Adrien Berlioz
Region: Savoie
Grapes: Jacquère
Winemaker: Adrien Berlioz
Adrien Berlioz started out in Chignin in 2006 with just 1.5 hectares and today works with around 7 hectares spread across 17 small parcels. Some of the vineyards have slopes of up to 50%, so there is not much room here for either tractors or a fear of heights. The estate is certified organic and, since 2020, has also been certified biodynamic by Demeter, working with local varieties such as Jacquère, Altesse, Mondeuse and Persan. Each parcel is vinified separately, and many of the wines are named after family members and people close to Adrien, allowing both terroir and personality to shine through. Les Gueux has been one of our best-selling wines over the years. A crisp and fresh white wine for almost any occasion.
