Beaujolais Nouveau

Beaujolais Nouveau 2025 – the first red wine of the year

Every year on the third Thursday of November, the release of Beaujolais Nouveau is celebrated – a festive tradition that marks the end of the harvest in southern Burgundy. This young red wine from the Beaujolais region is made from the Gamay grape, which with its fresh fruit and low tannins produces a juicy, easy-drinking wine. Beaujolais Nouveau is bottled and released just a few weeks after the harvest, giving it a lively, fruity style with notes of cherry, raspberry and lilac flowers.

Its origins date back to the 1950s, when local winegrowers celebrated the new wine with parties and competitions to see who could bring the bottles to Paris first. Today, Beaujolais Nouveau is a global event, but in recent years many winegrowers have turned to natural wine and biodynamic methods, which has elevated the quality and authenticity of the wine.

Modern Beaujolais natural wine shows how elegant and terroir-true Gamay can be – still fresh and festive, but with depth and character. Beaujolais Nouveau is therefore not only about celebration, but also about craftsmanship, history and the joy of the first taste of red wine of the year.
