France Burgundy Fuissé
Domaine Robert Denogent is based in Fuissé in southern Burgundy and is a family-owned winery with deep roots in the Mâconnais. Today, the domaine is run by brothers Nicolas and Antoine Denogent, who have continued the work of their father Robert, but at the same time significantly sharpened their focus on terroir, old vines and uncompromising craftsmanship.
The winery works almost exclusively with Chardonnay , planted on a mosaic of small plots around Fuissé, Solutré and Vergisson. Many of the vines are exceptionally old – several over 70 years old – and are grown on classic calcareous and clayey soils. The work in the fields is manual and without the use of synthetic agents, with great attention to biodiversity, soil life and the natural balance of the plants.
In the cellar, the Denogent brothers work with extreme patience. Fermentation occurs spontaneously, and the wines are often aged for a very long time – sometimes several years – on fine lees without stirring. The barrels are primarily older and are used as a tool, not a flavoring agent. Bottling is done without fining and with minimal filtration, and sulfur is used only in very small amounts, if at all.
