In the rolling hills north of Treviso in Veneto lies Vini Massimo Coletti – a small family-run winery where classical winemaking expertise meets a deep commitment to natural wine and the traditional col fondo method. Massimo Coletti grew up surrounded by vineyards and studied viticulture and oenology at the University of Udine before gaining experience at some of Europe’s most prestigious estates, including Château Latour in Bordeaux and Domaine d'Eugénie in Burgundy. After returning to Veneto in 2002, he founded his own winery with the ambition of showcasing a more authentic, terroir-driven expression of Prosecco.
Today, Massimo farms around 25 hectares of vineyards planted on ancient moraine and limestone soils formed by glaciers during the Ice Age. The vineyards are cultivated according to organic principles, without synthetic herbicides or pesticides, with a strong focus on biodiversity and healthy soils. Alongside Glera, he works with local grape varieties such as Boschera, Verdiso, Verduzzo, Manzoni Bianco, Pinot Grigio, and Chardonnay, highlighting the diversity of the region rather than producing a uniform style of Prosecco.
In the cellar, Massimo follows a low-intervention philosophy with spontaneous fermentation and minimal sulfur use. His sparkling wines are produced using the traditional col fondo method, where the secondary fermentation takes place in bottle without disgorgement. The lees remain in the bottle, adding texture, complexity, and vitality that stand in contrast to the industrial tank method used for most modern Prosecco.
Vini Massimo Coletti represents a new generation of Veneto winemakers, reviving the region’s historic traditions with respect for nature and craftsmanship. The result is vibrant, characterful wines that combine freshness, energy, and a true sense of place, demonstrating that Prosecco and natural wine can coexist beautifully.
