Hvidvin

Country

Frankrig

Region

Bourgogne

France · Burgundy · Corpeau

In the southern part of Côte de Beaune in Burgundy, in the village of Corpeau near Puligny-Montrachet, lies Domaine du Clair Obscur – a small family-run winery where craftsmanship, experience, and natural wine come together in a precise and vibrant expression. The domaine was founded in 2006 by Pierre and Jennifer Clair, both of whom gained experience at some of Burgundy’s most respected estates, including Domaine de Montille and Marquis d’Angerville.

The project began with just 0.4 hectares of vineyards inherited from Pierre’s family – old vines planted in the 1960s that had previously been farmed for private use. Since then, the estate has gradually expanded to around 3.5 hectares, spread across parcels in Corpeau, Maranges, and other parts of Côte de Beaune, where limestone and clay soils form the foundation of the wines.

From the beginning, Pierre and Jennifer have followed a clear philosophy centered around organic and biodynamic farming, with a strong focus on living soils and minimal intervention. In the vineyards they work without herbicides, while in the cellar they rely on spontaneous fermentation, low sulfur use, and a gentle approach to extraction and aging.

Domaine du Clair Obscur works primarily with classic Burgundian grape varieties such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Aligoté, while also experimenting with lesser-known varieties and blends, giving the wines a personal and free-spirited character.

The style is defined by energy, transparency, and balance – wines that move between Burgundy’s classical elegance and the freedom of natural wine. Domaine du Clair Obscur is a clear example of Burgundy’s new generation, where tradition, experience, and minimal intervention come together in wines full of both depth and life.
