Bourgogne Tonnerre Barrique kommer fra to Chardonnay-parceller i det nordlige Bourgogne: én plantet i 1990 med fuld sydlig eksponering og én yngre parcel fra 2010 med sydøstlig eksponering. Jorden er lav, meget stenet og kalkholdig med Exogyra-mergel fra Kimmeridgien i undergrunden – samme geologiske familie som Chablis. Vinen vinificeres og lagres delvist på fad, men uden bâtonnage, så fadet understøtter strukturen uden at overdøve terroiret.
