Andrea Occhipinti

Italy · Lazio

Andrea Occhipinti in 2004 studied Agriculture on the University Tuscia in Viterbo. He in his master thesis studied the grape Alieatico which he todays deals with on a daily basis allowing us harvest the fruits of his efforts.

Azienda Agricola Occhipinti is located on the north-west lake wide of the lake Bolsena. Europeas largest lake that is formed from a vulcano crator approximately 370.000 years ago.

The dices on the label represents the origin story for the winery. Andrea told us that his good friend did not believe that one could make good dry wines on the grape Aleatico. A rare grape variety normally used for sweet wines. Andrea decided to "Roll the dice" and prove him wrong. Come and see for yourself.

His goal is to preserve and improve the authentic grapes Alieatico and Grechetto Rosso, the ones that he believes is best suited for the volcanic soil. Occhipinti believes in thorough methods where tradition and innovation melts perfectly together.
